Speed Violation report

The Speed Violation report is a tool which can be used to check ship speed within a predefined zone and record speed violations. You can set a minimum speed, a maximum speed, or a speed range for your zone. In this example, we will set the upper speed limit to 30 knots.

This report will be built for the “Vancouver Harbour" zone, which we have already used in previous examples.

Creating the Speed Violation report:

• Click the Report Designer button to open the Report Designer window.
• Select "<New>" from the Select Report drop-down list.
• Type “Vancouver Harbour Speed Violation > 30 knots” in the Report Name field.
• Leave the Enable box checked.
• Select “Speed Violation” from the Report Type drop-down list.
• Input "6 Hours" in the Time Span field. This will provide a list of all ships violating the zone's speed limit within the past 6 hours. The time span can be customized for all Speed Violation reports.
• Select “Vancouver Harbour” from the Zone drop-down list.
• Leave the Filter option blank.
• Leave the Min Speed field blank.
• Enter "30.0" into the Max Speed field (knots).

Click the Apply button to save your settings. Click the Test button to display the Speed Violation report.

The report contains information regarding:

• Position (coordinates) of the first recorded violation

• Maximum speed of each ship

• Average speed of each ship

• Duration of time that the ship's maximum speed was above the permitted speed.
